Warren East High School, Phases I and II
Bowling Green, KY
This project consisted of a series of major elements for Warren East High School. Desperately in need of renovation to larger volumetric spaces, the school had spatial and site opportunities to renovate one building and add on to the other within the existing envelope. Among the improvements to the existing building were a new cafeteria, a new auditorium, and renovations to the gymnasium.
Athletics facilities were expanded across the site. An additional gym, a new field house, and new athletic fields encourage students to stay healthy and competitive.
Acousticians Cavanaugh Tocci aided alt32 to develop a scheme for the auditorium that provided an ideal acoustical environment for multiple events and mediums.
The project was conceived as an evolution of the existing facilities, not merely a continuation of the architecture already in place. Expanses of glass for natural light and focused design on key elements in terms of site and function created a comprehensive and integrated campus.
